Hi, my name is Zachary Bortot, and I am the producing artistic director for Good Friday 5:15 P.M. As such, I serve in various capacities as both a producer and director, unifying and maintaining an overarching artistic vision for the production. This means I help coordinate the various aspects of the production, ensuring that costumes, props, and actors are working together to produce a cohesive product.
Currently, my primary responsibilities are in bringing people together to serve as directors and performers. I also have been working on revising the initial historical talking points into a script format for the performers. Once initial casting is completed in the fall of 2016, I will hold rehearsals with the performers on a weekly basis until we open in March of 2017.
A typical rehearsal lasts a few hours, with the actors performing their role over and over, refining elements of memorization, diction, projection, physicality, and infusing their performance with emotional and psychological truth. Producer William Austin had a deep desire for Good Friday 5:15 P.M. to be as authentic as possible, so as the director my goal is to achieve a unified artistic vision, one that is of high quality and honoring to God.
