First of all, the walls of Jerusalem have been raised, numbered, and then put in storage until showtime. Bill Austin and a handful of helpers spent hours out in the hot sun over a four week period getting the walls up. Not only did they arrange shops, boulevards, and balconies, they set it all up so that none of the sprinklers in the ceiling were covered–that took a whole separate set of careful measurements. The work proceeded mostly without incident, although there was one dramatic moment when a stair step actually broke under Bill as he was lifting part of the Jerusalem wall. Fortunately, no one was hurt–and that step has been very carefully replaced. Steps do not habitually break under people–in fact, this is the first and only time that has ever happened.
Fill the Whole Hog continues. People have been very generous in adding not only spare change but some bills to the glass hog sitting in the back of the church. We’re pretty excited about that!
Plans for our QuarterMania party continue. There are some very generous donations from local businesses, and the evening promises to be exciting! You can buy tickets by clicking on the button in the side panel, or right here:
Many of the roles have been taken by talented Biola actors, though we still need more men for some of the parts, and some guides–see the cast list to see who’s doing what!
And last, but not least, we’re planning an informal get-together on October 16 starting at 11:30 where people can see some of the costumes, ask questions about what is going on, and audition for parts if they so wish. Also, there will be food, so come for the free lunch if nothing else!
