Good Friday 5:15 is here folks! It’s actually happening, right now!
I had the privilege of taking the very first tour on their dress rehearsal and tech-test night. And it is good. Really, really good. It’s one thing to know the outlines of the script, more or less, and to know that the actors have been rehearsing non-stop for weeks. It’s another to see it come to life. I saw real strength there, in the performance, as I walked through and watched the people of the city respond to the events of the day–the crucifixion of a famous teacher and miracle worker, an unexpected earthquake, and inexplicable darkness. They pondered political aspects, wept Jesus’ death, told what they had seen, and wondered about what would happen next.
The first two performances have passed, but there are still four more: Friday March 31, Saturday April 1, Friday April 7, and Saturday April 8th from 7pm to 9pm, at All Saints Anglican Church, 346 Termino Avenue, Long Beach CA 90814. Please, stop by. You’ll leave thoughtful and full of good food of more than one kind.
